You thought sleazy Illinois governor/hairpiece model Rod Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris to fill Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat?

"I am now the junior senator from the state of Illinois," [Burris] said from the pulpit of a South Side church on what he said was the eve of his trip to Washington.
Burris and his backers described his future in religious terms, saying his move to the U.S. Senate is preordained.
"Friends, we're going to have to have some powerful prayer…. They can't deny what the Lord has ordained," said Burris at New Covenant Baptist Church, 740 E. 77th, surrounded by ministers, politicians and activists.
Well, they can, but only if the FBI finds out that the Lord is involved in a pay-to-play scheme.
Like if He ordered His deputies to pass around a dish or plate or basket for the purposes of gathering cash every weekend, for example.

It makes no difference that Roland Burris appears to have a clean record and there is no reason to believe he accepted anything from Blago for the appointment. The question that you need to be asking yourself is…what honorable man or woman would accept this appointment from a disgraced governor? You know the answer. Roland Burris, by accepting Blago’s nod has disgraced himself in the process. I’m sorry, but any man willing to accept the appointment from Blago is a desperate individual.

So let me see if I got this right, the Democratic majority in the Senate will be short 1 from New York, 1 from Illinois will be barred from entry, and 1 from Minnesota is still being disputed. All this while in the midst of an economic crisis and war breaking out in the Middle East.
