Far from the economic crisis hitting on his watch (as he put it), I believe the whole thing was deliberate and timed so that most of the focus during this time could be on how the two candidates would HYPOTHETICALLY handle the economic crisis. Great smoke screen. But as rescue plans go, Bill Clinton would have gotten my vote there anyway. We thought starting a war with Iran would be the Bush administration's last hurrah but I guess he fooled us there. Or maybe it was Cheney. In any case, there's nothing like the element of surprise.
