Here's a Job Lead for Unemployed Republicans
For the past eight years Republican insiders have enjoyed the cushiest jobs Washington has to offer, the kind of positions that involve six-figure salaries, White House security clearance and/or ambassadorships to tropical islands.
Tomorrow, thousands of them will be out of work. Armed only with their lucky ties and the faint whiff of manure that is an association with George W. Bush's administration, they are plunging headfirst into the worst job market in years…
High-ranking White House loyalists have deluged Washington headhunters with pleas for jobs. Corporations and nonprofit organizations have stopped hiring. With the GOP out of power, jobs on Capitol Hill are scant and K Street lobbying firms have trimmed their golden parachutes. [...]
"For Republicans, the inn is full," lamented veteran GOP operative Ron Kaufman, a close White House adviser to former president George H.W. Bush and an executive at Dutko Worldwide. "You have lots of folks in the House and Senate on the streets and 3,000 administration appointees on the streets at a time when the job market is shrinking anyways. It's just not a fun time."
In related news, the New York Times reported yesterday that the dwindling job market has prompted more Americans to join the military.
So, there you go, unemployed Republicans. Perhaps you know of a war that's going on somewhere, still?

Republicans don't think of joining the military as a last resort. Serving and defending the country is an honor. Liberals still don't get that. That's why John Kerry botched his joke…much like this humorless post.
