Hillary Clinton Undermines American Diplomacy With Just Two Words
She's only been Secretary of State since Wednesday evening, but according to Fox News, Hillary Clinton has already failed at her first diplomatic assignment: coming up with a catchy catchphrase…
"Smart Power" — Hillary Clinton's description of her approach to diplomacy — is just plain dumb, marketing professionals say.
The catchphrase is unclear and ripe for misinterpretation, a group of experts told FOXNews.com.
Clinton, who was sworn in as secretary of state on Wednesday, defined "smart power" at her Senate confirmation hearing as using the full range of tools available to the United States, including diplomatic, economic, military, political, legal and cultural tools.
Okay, and what does she mean by that? "We'll bomb first and ask questions later," or "I am going to steal your children and keep them for pets" — who can tell? 'Unclear' doesn't even begin to describe it.
Alan Siegel, founder and head of Siegel + Gale, a brand consultancy, described "Smart Power" as an "unfortunate choice of words."
"I don't think it's good to say you're smart," he said. "I think it's smarmy."
Ugh! If there's anything I hate more than smarmy people, it's smart people. Especially when they're in charge of foreign affairs.
Hillary Clinton needs to change her slogan to "Shock and Awe Power," right now.
Everybody knows what that means.
Fox news? I was almost thinking about it until I got to that. They're idiots who hire idiots to say idiotic things for other idiots to listen to.
Thank you again marketing professionals who have brought us so much good already, for sheltering us from even the word smart! The person who actually coined the phrase must be feeling so not-smart now:
