Dick Cheney Can't Quit You, Fearmongering
Oh good lord, I thought we wheeled this busted old coot off to an undisclosed location two weeks ago, did we not? After I wrote that post about the end of his Google Map censorship I assumed I'd never have to scroll down to the 'tags' field and type burrower demon Dick Cheney's name ever ever again.
Well, fine, he's "back," if by "back" you mean "sitting in suburban Virginia, grunting about nuclear armageddon." I guess we shouldn't be surprised…
Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.
That is because, according to Cheney, Obama and his team are "naive." Why, they've never so much as shot one friend in the face. Quoth the Burrower:
"The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected. Sometimes, that requires us to take actions that generate controversy. I’m not at all sure that that’s what the Obama administration believes."
Right, and you did a great job of making the United States "respected" by people other hell-demons around the world! Nice one, Dick!
Seriously, at this point, why does he even bother? When's the last time a reviled former vice president had any impact on foreign policy or homeland security? Melissa Rossi at HuffPo says Cheney's still pushing doom because he wants defense budgets to stay high, and that may be part of it.
Or maybe the old rumors are true, and he really does suck nutrients from the sulfurous vapors of fear.
He's the reason the US has lost so much respect in the world. I'm so glad he's finally out of office and can scurry back under the refrigerator with the rest of the pests.
Mary, you are so hard on the Dick.
Don't you know that "fear" and "respect" mean exactly the same thing?
