Lincoln Memorable

Since Glenn Beck's 8/28 Rally was such a huge success, does that mean he's now a greater man than Martin Luther King. Or just as great?

Sarah Palin Joins the Tax Gaffe Crew

Sarah Palin is a real American fiscal conservative hero: why, she's only been charging Alaskan taxpayers $54.33 per night for the costs associated with living in her own home.

These per diem charges, which date back to the beginning of her term as governor, have been the source of some puzzlement for state officials. For one thing, what the hell? For another thing, shouldn't she be paying taxes on that money?

Because she sure hasn't been paying taxes on that money…

Gov. Sarah Palin must pay income taxes on thousands of dollars in expense money she received while living at her Wasilla home, under a new determination by state officials.

The governor's office wouldn't say this week how much she owes in back taxes for meal money, or whether she intends to continue to receive the per diem allowance. As of December, she was still charging the state for meals and incidentals.

Geez.

If she wanted a position in Obama's cabinet that badly, she could have just asked, or emailed her resume like everyone else.

  1. I personally live in alaska, and the reason she gets paid is because it would cost millions to fix the goveners house in juneau (capital), and if she moved there, the state would pay her for meals and other bull**** like every other govener in the country

  2. Well it just shows she wasn't ready for the big stage in politics. If she used H&R Block, she would have had "People".

  6. You might add to your blog that Governor Palin herself instituted the review of the per diem issue, and that the recent amendment to state policy is a revision of state policy. Governor Palin has not been failing to pay taxes, she and other state employees will simply be required to adjust their 08 declarations in the light of a revised policy. Not quite the scandal you seem to have wanted!

  7. Maybe Seth Rogan and Sarah Palin should get together. Neither of them have anything of value to offer the world.

  8. Seth Rogen has no talent.
