LiveBlog: Bobby Jindal's Response to President Obama's Not-State of the Un-Union Pseudo-Address

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

10:40 – Anyway, that's it for me for the night. Leave your opinions of the two addresses in the comments. Or go out and get drunk. Or something. What do I care?

10:38 – Was that really as terrible as I think it was? Did he actually have any comments about anything? Or was he there just to tell Americans that he's brown and has a calming voice and that they should remember him for the future?

10:37 – This is not really a response. This is a "coming out." It's like if he said anything it might preclude the Republicans from saying "no" to it next week if the Democrats brought it up.

10:35 – This guy needs to get back to his page desk at TGS.

10:34 – "Republicans want to work with President Obama." ???

10:33 – Hurricane Katrina is to Bobby Jindal as 9/11 is to Rudy Giuliani.

10:32 – If he used the phrase "act now," I don't think this could get more like a late night infomercial than it already is. – Darcy Savit

10:30 – This is the GOP's response to Obama's speech? Do they really think that anybody is going to respond to this?

10:27 – Close your eyes, lie back and relax, and Bobby Jindal will fix all your self esteem problems while you sleep.

10:26 – Oh, he's from India. Just like Slumdog Millionaire! I can relate to that. Plus, I like Lamb Korma. I'm already on his side.

10:25 – There's something distinctly Sham-Wow about his demeanor so far.

10:24 – I like how he just walked into the room as if he didn't expect the country to be there waiting for him.

10:12 – I can't wait to see what Jindall does to resond after that speech. If he gives a convincing argument for why that was a speech full of bad ideas, then he might just be the real thing in 2012.

  2. If this is all the Republicans got, then I feel so much better. So far I've heard only two responses to that speech in my college: "Bobby Jindal, what an @%$" and "Bobby Jindal, whitetrash wannabe". I almost feel sorry for this guy. His "response" was obviouly written before Obama's speech, he obviously hadn't rehearsed, and the way he presented it was as if he were talking to 10 year olds.
Palin and Jindal, this party is quickly running out of minorities to present as a new figurehead.

P.S. I especially loved the walk-in with the little half-smile.

  3. He disappoints me as an Indian.

  4. What was the party thinking? Did they really believe treating us like we were in kindergarten would endear any of us to their tripe?

  5. don't fret they are still trying to kill that lone wolf

  6. Tried for treason, hung. That's my opinion of the conservatives and their ideological spewings at the moment. Let me know when they have something new, interesting, or useful to say.

    …that's better all squared up

  8. Considering Bobby had less than 5 minutes after Obama's address to start, how does this even qualify as a response? It's more like they're sending the message of "LALALALALALALA!!" (The way Colbert did, except for reals) One of these days, Omaba's gotta be like, "Bitch please." Crap like Jindal's talking point is ridiculous.

Why are the Republicans making such a racket over that Mag-Lev railroad between Vegas and Anahiem anyway? Mag-Levs are awesome and prove that we're catching up with the Chinese. Sure, I can think of a better place to put a high speed train (say, connect Boston to D.C), but it's not like they've had any good ideas recently. Flat taxes don't count.

  9. let's complicate things, first i need to state that on earth there is very little tar worth going postal over. It is a different matter to say someone cares at all about some else's mess, for example mexico's failed social security. The only good reason i see for a mad exodus of "americans" to cross the boarder is to try and reverse their failed system. I do commend the guy working now to improve life, so he is not a target of my rage but you know who is even if you lie to yourself and say you "have done nothing". This board is not worth posting on let alone going postal over, justice will continue to exist even if the "jon and trasea stewart's of the world don't feel it is appropo.

  10. Just want to remind those of statue that jon is married and has been married for 12 years to a republican; isn't that nice, everybody clap for science now or bring forth your ammo, so we kill life and and pretend to cure the diseases we invent, ouu rah! I love science and republicans-jon stewart
