Hillary Clinton: Americans Desire for Sweet, Sweet Drugs "Insatiable"

POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio

I'm not sure I like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton characterizing Americans' demand for delicious, luxuriant, virginally-pure, holy-above-material-things cocaine as "insatiable."

It makes us sound so gauche…

Clinton said the United States shares responsibility with Mexico for dealing with the violence. She said the administration will work with Mexican authorities to improve security on both sides of the border.

"Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade," she said. "Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police officers, soldiers and civilians."

For what it's worth, I can think of one extremely simple way to cut our "insatiable demand for illegal drugs" down to nil in, like, an afternoon.

  1. What is wrong with Americans (and, maybe, many other nationalities, I suppose) that we have to take drugs to get by. (I ask this as one who had a couple drams of Scotch whisky last night.) If our demand for drugs would dry up, so would the supply. It won't happen the other way around. If we would pay farmers as much to grow rice, wheat and corn as we do for them to grow coca, poppies and canabis, they would grow rice, wheat and corn. Of course, the dealers would have to become grocers and the mules, delivery drivers. At least then they'd all be paying taxes and could stop shooting cops.

  2. In one afternoon? No problem… just deport Gary Busey, Courtney Love, and Robert Downey Jr.

  3. Her description sounded just about right. "Insatiable" is putting it a bit mildly. And how is it that you propose "to cut our "insatiable demand for illegal drugs" down to nil in, like, an afternoon"? when nothing short of an OD would.
And also, she has it wrong by saying "our inability". She should have said "our unwillingness".
