Ron Paul: Legalizing Marijuana Is a State's Constitutional Right
Ron Paul recently told all 23 members of Air America's listening audience that he is strongly in support of state sovereignty concerning the legalization of the sticky icky pot weed…
He said that he believes that the U.S. Constitution gives the fifty states the right to legalize hemp production or marijuana. He said the issue was a matter of personal liberty but added that drug users should not be entitled to government-funded treatment if they abuse legalized drugs.
Not in a free market America, they shouldn't. That would make them a burden on society. Instead, they should seek treatment on reality television, where their struggles can be put to good use entertaining fellow drug users.
"If drugs are legal and people misuse them, then they do it at their own risk," he said. Bottom line, said Paul: "I do trust individuals to make their own decisions."
And that's when everybody listening to him realized that Ron Paul has never met anybody who has ever been on drugs ever.
I'm in favor of legalizing — or at least regulating — a lot of drugs, particularly marijuana. But I won't even trust my pothead friends to make decisions concerning the CD player most of the time.*

There is absolutely NO link between Marijuana and Cancer, NONE. You cannot find one person in the history of the human race that has had cancer due to Marijuana use only. Also the LEAVES are the plant material that has 4X the amount of tar not the BUDS, which are almost solely smoked. Noone smokes leaves.
What a perfect example of when a stupid person comments on a much more intelligent person's comments. thank you for demonstrating your own stupidity Dennis.
This isn't about your pothead friends. This is about liberty. Ron Paul has always been right about free-market capitalism, and he will always be right. The man is not a politician, he's a Constitutionalist. Why do you think he lost the Republican choice for candidacy? The man's a revolutionary. At least ONE politician is fighting to abolish the Federal Reserve…
This pot head could design a CD player for you – and I don't mean the outer shell either.
"Marijuana smoke contains roughly 4 times the tar of cigarette smoke. Tar is bad for you. Smoking marijuana causes certain types of cancer (namely in the throat and lungs). Smoking anything 4 – 10 times a day will drastically increase your chances of throat or lung cancer." by @Craig…
Wonder where you found that… Smoking weed actually kills cancer. The tar it leaves is also much, much different from that of a cigarette. The tar smoking weed leaves in your system can be broken down and expelled from your body and does very little (yes smoking things is always going to be bad for you) actual long-lasting damage to your lungs. The stress that weed puts on your body by making it clean itself out (aka hawking up fat loogies in the morning) may actually increase the functionality of your lungs in the long term. Plus when you cook with or vaporize weed, not just some, but ALL of the negative effects I am discussing completely disappear. And I know very few people who could stand to smoke weed 4-10 times a day. If only you could see your liver after a couple of drinks. If only you researched the anti-marijuana campaigns of the thirties by the alcohol and tobacco industries. If only you knew the original colonists of Virginia were REQUIRED to grow HEMP (aka low level THC producing marijuana plants) on some of their land every year. If only you knew that the legalization of marijuana would lead to the commercial production of hemp, which is one of the only energy positive crops on the planet. It is a weed, and therefore grows like one and gives back to the soil like one.
very well said Davis,,,,Million Man Burnout in DC 2010,,,,,,civil-disobedience will finally kill the war on marihuana, it is the only real solution to get the politicians to see just how many people support the legalization of marihuana and the start to serious industrial use (sustainable) from Hemp. WAKE UP AMERICA,,,,,,,,,,,,Marihuana has been used for approx. 4000 years and will continue to be used worldwide due to its extremely popular medicinal and recreational qualities.
Mr. DiClaudio, at first I was glad to read you're in favor of marijuana users no longer being robbed, caged or killed by police officers for doing what they wish with their own bodies but then you went and advocated regulation.
Sounds to me like all you're really supporting is appeasement. By advocating regulation, you're just appealing to the bureaucrats' greed by trading consent to be robbed (via taxation) in return for a little more freedom to control your own body (the ability to ingest the intoxicant of your choice).
This is not an optimal solution because, really, the bureaucrats don't care about your consent. They'll rob you anyway if they so choose and continue to tell you what you can and cannot do with your own body.
The real solution is to end the failed war on drug users so people can control their own bodies as they see fit and for the bureaucrats to stop sticking their noses in other people's business and their hands into other people's wallets.
If the worry is that people under the influence of drugs will commit real crimes like violence and theft (which would be less of a problem with the black market on prohibited drugs going away), there are already plenty of laws on the books covering those, intoxicated or not.
Davis, although I agree with most of what you said, I am a pot head, I have smoked pot since the age of 12 when I stole my first half of a joint from my father. I grew up with my father smoking and selling pot and I learned at a very young age to wait till he smoked to ask for anything from him…he was always in a better mood after. It was no big deal around my house as a kid, it was just something that happened when dad got home from work. I am turning 30 this month and I still smoke pot, I smoke more than four times a day. I smoke when I wake up, I smoke after meals (and sometimes before too), I smoke any time I feel nausious, I smoke when I have a migraine headache, I smoke on my way to work, on my way home from work, any time I'm sittin around bullshitting with friends, and I smoke before bed. In short, the only time I DON"T smoke is when I'm at work or when my kid is around. (We don't smoke in the house at all, no cigs either) If I could afford more and if it were legal, I'd smoke a hell of alot more. Marijuana is my only vice. I don't smoke cigs anymore and I don't drink.
Something else to add to your tirade…the first car ever made by Henry Ford was a Model T that was made of Hemp Plastic and ran on Hemp Oil. The first Bible's and the first constitution were printed on Hemp paper. Many people think that the legalization of Marijuana and the mass farming of hemp could save our economy and make our country a cleaner place for everyone to live. GO GREEN!
Hemp plastic is biodegradeable and stronger than most plastic out today thats NON biodegradeable. Hemp, hemp products and hemp oil can be used for everything that we depend on OIL for now. If oil is Black Gold to our country, then I say Hemp is Green Platinum. Petroleum based anything does not break down in the environment.
Alabama Power is going to start burning trees instead of coal for a cleaner environment. Hemp would create the same amount of energy and it only takes six months for a whole field of hemp to grow. It takes thirty years for a tree to reach maturity.
Yeah legalizing Marijuana use is wrong and crucial in the future if the U. S wanted change in the Medical System. It's so corrupt anyway! Promoting Drug addicts is stupid! If this is the case in certain states, well then they do not get driver's licensces is what I think! No, that is a dangerous drug and it is illegal for a reason. Hey why don't you go watch that episode of Grey's where she lost her black panties or something? Hospitals in U.S. are full of Malpractice too! And that is why they should not have legalized it! Who's to say a doctor didn't make a mistake and administered pot? That is retarded! Who really needs a bunch of smelly rotten marijuana in our American Hospitals anyway? I am from Florida and have to live in Michigan! This is aweful! Now anyboby can get their hands on it!!! I want to know why drug busts are made, then drugs are promoted in ways like this? This is rotten!! If you have cancer, get chemo!!!! Nobody should get this crap! I don't really care if California was thinking of legalizing it either because they did or not already! That should never have been legalized! How stupid! If it is legal- only for dead people or people near death then! Nobody should just be able to first be diagnosed or just have turned ill and then get it! I believe only elderly and non driving people who do not have driver's licenses then! Why should american's be put at risk?
Michelle Krappe – Wow.
I'm sorry, but you're the kind of person that makes me wish we had professional voters.
