Some of my gay friends are getting all bunched up because Obama's sidestep of gay rights.

What they're not getting, is that it will happen. You just cannot stifle civil rights. Not in this country. History is on their side. But Rome wasn't built in a day, and our President is dealing with the shitstorm that Bush and Cheney left behind plus trying to make energy and health care changes that will benefit future generations, not just the current crop of quarter to quarter greedmongers, who can't see beyond their next quarter, and don't give a damn about future generations, energy independence, or that we are the only industrialized nation that doesn't provide health care. It's just not competitive, on the global market, and it's going to end up survival of the fittest, not the fattest.

Health Care and Energy are both national security matters. These issues affect all people, gay, straight or somewhere in between.

Chill, at least until these two things are debated and hashed out and dealt with, before you become a pouting drag queen about it.

If he wimps out and pulls a Clinton, in an effort to court the homophobic vote, then you can go all stonewall.

For now, realize that there are bigger issues than your marriage right now, things like climate change and health care implosion, that could wreck even a gay marriage.

As someone in the trenches, fighting for health care and energy, I will also be on the front lines of gay rights too, and I doubt they can put it off past next year, so be patient and work on organizing a new vote for Cali, so we can show 'em we can defeat Utah coming into our state, and changing our damn constitution.

That's your best first step, the nation is becoming more tolerant, one state at a time. California's Prop. 8 showed just how much tax free money the Mormon Church, is willing to put up, to snooker a state into thinking gay marriage has anything to do with kids in school.

State by state, civil rights will change. Don't give up on Obama yet. It'll happen. He's up against redbaiters and teabaggers for fat cats. You want to rev up the homophobic hoardes, just as we're on the precipice of even the slightest bit of change from the status quo?

Go too extreme, and you'll give them every reason to bring back the Bush era of Arrogance. Obama needs your support, even if you're disgruntled that it's not happening fast enough.

I can't believe that the senate dems now are drafting a bill that would tax heath benefits as income. That was John McCain's thing.

What I don't hear anyone saying (and maybe its because the world stopped for Michael Jackson's passing), is it would result in Obama breaking his campaign promise not to increase taxes on people making less than $200,000.
