first off, kudos to bearness for excellent knowledge of US history, thus making it unnecessary for me to write out the exact same thing! I guess the only thing to add was that when he was awarded the rank of brig. general, he was also given command of all the forces of the virginia militia.

beyond that, what does this say about palin if this is truly a serious comparison? that she's and todd are going to go full time into the alaska independence movement (which he was once linked to)? that she plans on purchasing some slaves in her retirement (george washington was a planter after leaving the british military entirely, which by definition meant he had to have at least 16 slaves)? she's certainly not quitting to take on a better job, as washington did, so i'd say that comparisons to his advancement because of heroic actions in the french and indian war and her quitting so that she can spend more time with her grandchild (did that remind anyone else of the movie "father of the bride 2"... no of course not, it was a terrible movie), shooting skeet (or whatever she pleases) from helicopters, and (not) talking at republican rallies, are not apt.

If republicans could just fucking google anything, they'd have known about 9/11 a year in advance, that Saddam had no WMD, and Bin Laden's entire strategy against the Russians, and now the US in Afghanistan.

Except in 1755, the Revolution wasn’t inevitable. Remember, the Revolution wasn’t until 1775. Washington didn’t really express much opposition to the British until 1765.

Back to 1755, he quit the Militia and became an aid for the British Army. That would be like quitting the National Guard to enter full time active-duty military.

Its not quite like he quit the Militia so he could go fishing or something.

A year after Washington quit the Virginia Militia, he became an aid to British General Braddock. Three years after that he held the rank Brigadier General.

Then he resigned from the military for 16 years to be a plantation farmer and a politician.

Seems to me if the Repbulicans want to use a resignation by Washingtion, this is the one that would be most applicable and paint her in the best light.

I know, I know, history and logic make Jesus’ eyes bleed.

But seriously, can’t Republican pundits use http://justfuckinggoogleit.com/? It might help keep them from sounding like morons.
