Jon Stewart on Obama's Health Care Town Hall
On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart reported on President Obama's recent town hall meeting on health care reform, where a protester outside was seen with a handgun strapped to his leg. Fortunately, from what I understand, the gentleman was simply trying to break the world record for most Constitutional rights practiced at one time. He would have done it too, if at the last minute, he hadn't accidentally quartered a soldier during peacetime.

The previous administration was willing to lie to the American people. This administration is not. President Obama wants the American people to have choices and this is up to the American people. Also, they are promoting health care reform when the actual bills are not completed.
Out of all the more important things, we're focusing on a visible gun that didn't get fired? Oh wait, people can be responsible with firearms? WTF? (it wasn't the brightest of ideas with such a scared society but a responsible people should be free with the privileges and we (or just 'I') want -that's right, I'm about to use it- evil doers to always think twice.)
in comparison I'm not the biggest fan of cops, but I'd rather have them around than not.
I learned a long time ago that the "form of government" during our "Wild West" days in history was Anarchy.
A lot of people had guns on their legs & they made the law… There weren't really sheriff's all over with little tin stars…
I guess this means we've not progressed much from there or we're slipping backwards…

Oh, and did you ever think that maybe the notion that there will be a push to take away guns is just crass manipulation by your republican handlers, right wing propoganda outlets and completely without basis (simply because it is not politically or socially expedient or even necessary) Or maybe, just maybe, it's a ploy by your beloved Browning and others in the gun industry to drum up gun sales during an economic downturn caused by your beloved GWB? Can you possibly step back, leave your emotions out of this, and come up for air? Because they are playing you for all you are worth and all you are getting out of it is pissed off and irrational. And the last thing this country needs is a bunch of pissed off, irrational people carrying guns.. Like this guy in the video.
If I bring a baseball bat to a game, I intend to play baseball. If I bring a chainsaw to a friends house, I intend to cut trees. If I bring a loaded weapon to an assembly where others of its kind have had violent confrontation, what do I intend to do? If you want the right to have your weapons, for gods sake be responsible. This just made your groups seem like irresponsible idiots.
I love Jon Stewart, I watch every Daily Show that comes out, but his ignorance on gun issues does get kind of old. New Hampshire is an open carry state, it's entirely legal and reasonable for someone to be carrying a gun there for their own protection or (in this case) as a form of protest against a president who would like to remove that right.
Also, it *is* silly to carry an unloaded gun – you get all of the hassle of liberals like Stewart freaking out like the gun is just going to jump up and fire on its own, with none of the added protection having a gun provides.
Gun rights are about the basic principle that a person is entitled to defend him or herself at all times. They are about admitting that all people have a capacity for violence, but that we do not consider them a threat not because we try to remove that capacity, but because they are thinking responsible citizens.
He was exercising his 2nd amendment right, and the media has a collective heart attack.
