Some Conservatives May Not Have the President's Best Interests in Mind When Trying to Stir Up Violence
Dan Savage was on The Countdown with Keith Olbermann (starting about three minutes into this clip), talking about the three-way intersection of the GOP's opposition to health care, misguided religious fervor and full-asshole total insanity…
.
At around the seven-minute mark, he hits what I think is the thesis statement of his argument…
"I really do think that the Michele Bachmanns of the world and the Glenn Becks of the world are actively and consciously, or subconsciously, trying to get — I'm just going to say it — trying to get the president killed.
That's why they're setting this up as kill or be killed arguments. 'He's gonna kill your grandma,' 'pull the plug on grandma,' 'death panels that little children have to go in front of.'"
In response, M.J. Rosenberg, over at TPMCafe, remembers Yitzhak Rabin, the former Prime Minister of Israel who was assassinated in 1995…
Democrats and the media should challenge any rightwing hint that sounds like a call to assassination. If that is not what they want, they should be forced to say it isn't.
Remember Rabin. First came the incitement (Netanyahu spoke at a rally where Rabin was portrayed as an Arab terrorist and as a Nazi). Then the religious nuts held ceremonies praying for Rabin's death. Finally, murder.
Asked about who she blamed for her husband's death, Leah Rabin said, "the right. They kept screaming he was selling out the country. Of course, I blame them."
Oh, well, that doesn't sound anything like what's happening at these town hall meetings. Whew! Everybody can just relax now, I guess.

I think the sad thing is that the \dangerous\ people aren't the regular folks, like tea-baggers, birthers, deathers and sensible people like you and me…Glenn and company are dangerous to dangerous people who think they are for real…like the dangerously mentally ill, the sociopaths, psychopaths, wantabe domestic terrorists, wanta be heros of the republic…people…who if they don't already have delusions, paranoid thoughts or confusion…can get them…and may move from just thoughts…to violent actions. It just isn't the President who we should be concerned about, everyone should remember those Federal Employees who went off to work one day at the Marra Building in OKC, like any other day…and ended up dead…for no good reason. Rush was on Glenn's show a few weeks ago, assuring him that \they\ had tried to pin the OKC tragedy on him…but \they\ hadn't been able to do it…so Rush in effect conveys the thought to just \carry on Glenn..they'll try to pin on it you, but ……no worries\. Glenn, keep an eye out when you go to get a new passport..in case one of your followers decides to \take back America\.
I'm glad the GOP are finally going to man-up and have a good-old-fashioned Pagan blood oath in the name of Christ and use it to defeat health care reform.
Same crap going on here in Texas. Look if you don't want little Timmy to watch the president and keep him home, that's fine, but don't ask me to kick in the extra taxes it's going to cost to open the schools for that makeup day.
I am now convinced that the GOP is the real "Granola" party. What aint fruits and nuts is flakes!
And to think that just 8 years ago America's religious extremists couldn't understand how Islamic religious extremists could convince their own followers to slam airplanes full of innocent people into buidings.
You'd think that after manipulating young kids to go on suicide missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, they'd let those who survived have healthcare when they got home.
Stupid, fucked up country. Slit your own damn wrists, psycho lady.
maybe it's in the water here in florida…dunno…but here's another one…

apparently speaking to school children = abuse of power?
from the gop release:
"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power."
