Gang of Six is Not Gung Ho for Max Baucus' Health Care Bill

POSTED BY: Mary Phillips-Sandy

max-baucus-not-a-winnerDemocratic Senator Max Baucus has finally coughed up his version of a health care bill (vital stats: 223 pages, $856 billion), giving Republican members of the "Gang of Six" the opportunity to flip him the bird, bipartisanly.

Here's Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming)'s official, unshocking objection:

"The proposal released today still spends too much, and it does too little to cut health care costs for those with health insurance. At a time when our nation faces a $9 trillion deficit, we should target assistance to those in the greatest need without creating unsustainable new entitlement programs. [...]

The best way to reform our health care system is to do it step by step. That is how you gain the trust of the American people. Let’s start by focusing on the issues where we already have broad, bipartisan agreement."

And that, children, is why the United States Senate spent eight months discussing chicken soup, and how it really does make you feel better for some reason.

  1. Peace is when you care about our future young people who have no health insurance. Will you fight their battles now for health care reform so they will have insurance? Or will you tell them no-you don't need it?
Remember when you were young and realize that if we allow no health coverage for them-then who will protect us when we can't fight our battles in years to come. Are we not to teach them responsibility for their health? So what if we all have health care coverage-what is so wrong with that as long as insurance companies have laws finally that will make them pay. Right now our kids are on drugs because we failed them. How much do you think that cost?
They need health care and be taught away from drugs and gangs and be healthy responsible citizens. Besides health care reform will create more jobs for everyone. Read all the details of the plan and stop listing to SC GOP's-look at their state-what a mess. If they are so great then SC should be a glorious example to follow-yea right

  2. To Mr. Larry King, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, Mr. Bill Maher , Mr. Bill O Reilly, Mr. Jon Stewart
Will you people wake up. I was willing to give President Obama a chance coming into office with a war going on, a huge deficit and the big bail out and people just expecting him to be the savior of the human race. That is a lot for a president to have to work out. But he has shown his true colors he is a puppet for the insurance companies and God knows who else. We wanted help with the high rising insurance cost. His solution is to force people to buy insurance making billions for those companies. Give the President and all of those law makers this option/idea they just may not have thought of it. Cut out the middle man, the insurance companies (even auto insurance). Rather than pay the insurance companies, there could be a non mandatory general fund for people to pay only the percentage left after the insurance companies took their fees (cut). This has totaled to hundreds of billions of dollars. Can you understand that those billions came from the premiums we pay each month and from those premiums the insurance companies paid the doctors/specialist etc…, lab fees unexpected tests and surgeries and procedures, pharmaceutical companies, were able to pay lawsuits and still made a profit? Those politicians can figure out how much they use to pay out and how much they keep and we only pay the payout portion. We would still come out cheaper and keep the same quality of health care. Also doesn’t an alarm go off in your mind our government is forcing us to buy insurance, if they make it a law we do not have much choice comply or be… what right do they have to force us to buy insurance? If you are not sure how this health insurance is going to go wake up this happened before with car insurance. Once they put this law in place people won’t keep fighting back they will just pay it like they pay car insurance. Wake up Wake up stop being brain dead zombies on remote control. Take a stand before it is too late. Peace
