^Not what I consider when I say "proud to be an American".
I am so saddened by what I have just watched, but do applaude its makers by truly encapsulating the blatant, un-informed, arrogant ignorance out there.
Yesterday, the NHS, Britain's "socialist" free, public health care system saved my Father's life.
He had a heart attack at home, the ambulance was called, it was there under 5 minutes and rushed to hospital. My Dad received the care he required and was brought to a stable condition quickly and with thorough care.
The NHS (National Health Service) has existed in Britain since 1944. Even though Britain was practically bankrupt from the ravages of war, it was recognised that the sacrife and the importance of the people needed to be honoured. So Britain decided to look after the people.
That's the only thing this has to do with Hitler…..
What I really appreciate about this video is that you actually make an attempt to educate the people you question. You did it without demeaning them, and you questioned them in a tone that was tempered and honest. In too many of these videos we mill about these events, pointing out how foolish the attendees are without actually having an honest discussion with them—questioning them on policy specifics, making them look like morons that can't spell "diaper." How does that help? Sure, it makes me feel morally and intellectually superior, sometimes angry and sometimes sad, but it does nothing to advance the debate. At the root of this problem is ignorance.
I know there are those that probably will never have a reasonable discussion, so set are they in their ways, but kudos to you for trying to plant the seeds of critical thought. That one bit where you explain the origins of American political “czars” was far more productive than ridiculing them for not knowing the difference between fascism, socialism, and communism. Most people don’t. Explain the difference to them. Explain that Mussolini was both a fascist and an anti-communist. Perhaps if we show them some respect as fellow citizens and earnestly help them sort through the misinformation we can change their overall mindset from one of ignorant bluster to one of reasoned dissent. Then I won’t have to watch any more of these videos and get a) pissed or b) depressed.
