Daily Show: Tea Partiers Advise G20 Protesters

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

If you're like me, you thought the protesters at the G20 Summit were just gathering in Pittsburgh for the free tear gas. But it turns out they're there on behalf of some real issues, dozens of them in fact. And, as John Oliver reported on last night's Daily Show, that seems to be their problem. If they could just be like the Teabaggers and focus on one cause, say the plight of patchouli farmers or government subsidized Che t-shirts, their efforts would be a lot more effective.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

  1. I would first suggest to the UK viewers to try some clips from other Comedy Central shows. It might just be that The Daily Show is much too subversive to status quo rhetoric. Remember, both US and UK 'leaders' don't want well informed populaces.

  2. Um Jerehiah,

I'm not sure bandwidth costs are at all relevant. I think (at least in the BBC's case) it has more to do with licensing issues. i.e. if they allow US consumers to watch everything immediately, they'll have a much harder time trying to later sell the shows to the US networks. I'm from the UK and can't use many of the US networks internet TV facilities for this reason (at least not without a proxy.. ;-) ).

Annoying not to be able to watch this clip.. just setting up foxyproxy now.

  3. Has nothing to do with ad revenue or bandwidth costs. It's purely an aspect of licensing and contracts.

  4. Same reason I can't watch BBC clips over their website. Bandwidth costs would be too expensive.

  5. Why the hell are daily show clips not now viewable in the UK? I have been viewing these for the past few years. Are you trying to narrow your audience? I can see this stuff via torrent, etc. Why lose the ad revenue from overseas viewers? As an American ex-pat, I am really pissed off. I guess that I have to start finding other sources for Daily Show clips…
