Marriage was created by God! Man has no right to redefine what God created, as anything else. Divorce was and is the result of mans free will to sin, and disobey God,, God defined marriage to be between a male and a female. In the beginning God created them male and female. Jesus said the same thing in Matt. 19:4 defining marriage to be a man and a woman. Part of God's definition of marriage, is for the man and woman to pro-create, of which the same sex couple can not do. The argument to protect marriage, you have to do away with divorce, is missing the point! Divorce does not define marriage, divorce is an indictment against the willful disobedience of man, in light of knowing that God hates divorce Mal. 2:16 John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. God has made His will known through His word 1 JOhn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:10 f we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

I guess you haven't read the Bible. Oh yes it does talk about homosexuality. Check out te book ofRomans . God doesn't hate gays, just there practice. Among other sins it also talks against gossips, abortion, cheaters and thiefs.

I believe this is a great idea. If your truly trying to protect the sanctity of Marriage then outlaw divorce. When almost fifty percent of those who get married end up in divorce something must be done right? So show us that Prop 8 was not just a hate proposition. Let us see how much you really care about marriage.

By your own admission marriage is a religious institution and should not be endorsed or controlled by the government. Remove the tax benefits and lets see who cares one way or the other. Why is it so important to force your religion on others, could it be that it is failing miserably and the majority of people are not really interested? If it is so important, move to a "christian country'….oh, wait, THERE AREN'T ANY…they failed because they persecuted all the intelligent people.

I support this idea 100%! I think it's obvious from the turn out of God fearing Christians at our last ballots that we have a good chance to pass this. If all those people who voted to protect marriage the last time will show up to show their support once more, we have an excellent chance of doing Gods work in 2010. My eternal husband and I are with you!

This initiative speaks to those rational supporters of Prop 8 and challenges them to apply the same arguments to the institution of divorce. People that really are discriminatory towards homosexuals will oppose, but those that were swayed by the language of Proposition 8 may consider the hypocrisy. If these people switch sides as a result, the ban on gay marriage can be repealed!

Jesus strongly condemned divorce, but said nothing of homosexuality; the thinking Christian must conclude that the institution of marriage is at greater risk from the former than the latter. Just think–no divorce, no alimony! It's a win-win.

Jesus never mentioned anything about homosexuality (or abortion for that matter), but he did say that divorce is wrong. If the pro-Prop 8 people really want to follow the Bible and protect the sanctity of marriage, they should put their money where their mouths are and vote yes on a California ban on divorce.

Frivolous divorce is almost as deep a wound in marriage's heart as are two men fighting over the veil at their "wedding." Jesus condemned divorce several times in the Bible, and while he didn't mention homosexuality, I think it's safe to assume he condemned that, too.

Rescue Marriage will protect Californians from their worst enemies –> themselves. With the threat of divorce out of the picture, Californians will return to the church and embrace a long life of love and intimacy with the spouse they likely chose in their early twenties.

If only this had existed sooner, I wouldn't have been tempted by Satan to ditch four of my wives already, each new wife 5 years younger and 10 lbs lighter than the previous.

God only recognizes the dissolution of a marriage through a properly sanctioned annulment! Not a divorce!

Why must these couples insist on getting a divorce when they can get an annulment? What other “rights” will they want? When will this stop?

This movement is growing leaps and bounds here in Sacramento. I didn't get married with the intention of doing it half way. For those who believe in the commitment of marriage, please support this initiative. If you don't, then please don't get married. Failed marriages cost our society untold millions of dollars every year and destroy the lives of thousands of children. You do like to save money and children…don't you?
