Colbert: Glenn Beck and Tea Partiers Deserve the Nobel Peace Prize
When it was announced that Barack Obama had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I was admittedly shocked. Mostly I was shocked by how much conservatives care about a European award for peace. But it turns out they hold the prize very dearly and take it very seriously, and they're all experts in its history and intent. In fact, the American right loves the Nobel Peace Prize almost as much as they hate the Olympics.

Hey Stephen would you help me out with this.
The Word:
Bribe
A payment, gain or benefit, which is given to an office holder for some future "favor" or consideration that is sought by the payor.
Picture a large box arriving unexpectedly in the office of a Chicago alderman. He opens the box to find a giant golden trophy elegantly engraved with his name. It is engraved intentionally to be prominent so that it could not be missed from across the room. The press will beat a path to his door love just to photograph this, he is thinking as he peers deeper into the box.
Beneath the foam padding, he finds the bottom of the box to be stuffed tightly with cash, over a million dollars in cash. Holy shit, I need to find a way to not be connected to this money. I better donate it to charity right away and distance myself from it, or I can get in trouble, going over in his mind the charities run by his cronies and supporters. Who will help him get relected in a few years? Those will need to be the charities this money will go to, problem solved.
So is there any difference in the basic facts if you substitute the low level polician for the top dog politician? A bribe is still a bribe. Why not pay the money that comes with the nobel prize to the U.S. treasury where it could offset some of expense he generates for taxpayers when he flies with his wife on dates to NYC?
Any other employee of the federal government would know it is against the law to accept gifts.
