This Unprecedented Number of Death Threats Against the President Is, Like, Seriously Killing the Secret Service

Wanna hear something funny about the right wing response to Barack Obama's presidency so far?

The Boston Globe reports that a new internal Congressional Research Service report and government sources say there are an unprecedented number of death threats against President Obama — and that the Secret Service is insufficiently funded and staffed to deal with them

[T]he election of Barack Obama has increased threats against the president's life by 400 percent from his predecessor, according to "In the President's Secret Service," Ronald Kessler's account of presidential security… The Southern Poverty Law Center issued a report back in August that found that the number of white supremacist militia groups has spiked by 35% since 2000.

Whoops! Sorry. My mistake. Turns out that wasn't funny. Like at all. No, that wasn't even a little bit. It was actually kind of more like terrifying and depressing than it was funny. Yikes! After only ten months, people already hate and want to kill Barack Obama 400 percent more than they hated and wanted to George W. Bush after eight years? When you get right down to it, that's pretty much the exact opposite of funny. Wouldn't you say?

Hmmmmmm… I wonder what is the one thing that white supremisist militia groups — not to mention the health care protesters with guns and people on writing Facebook polls about whether or not Barack Obama should be killed — hate most about him. What could it be?  Wow. This is a very difficult question to answer.

I suppose they're just really, really oppose a public option for health care. I mean, that's pretty much the only thing I can think of.

people hate change but want their sexy music.

wtf? wycliff, shack, Michael, but not as president. As an Irish descendant, I find this infuriating about the the american people. Rape me with your business, especially by the banks, but don't come in my house and give me any comfort from fear and disease.

Thank you America!

It the real red blooded republican supporters were this interested in politics any number of years ago ,you know, awake and paying attention to what their darling president and Cheney were doing to the economy,They would be a lot angrier. They have no idea what that presidency has done with MY MONEY and of course, theirs. They are not any better off!The TV HEADS that are not Journalist are starting the racist crap because they can't find any thing bad about Barack Obama. He is the best man for the job!The Worst Job in the world! They could never ever do iit.I WANT THE PUBLIC OPTION BECAUSE I HAVE A FULL TIME JOB AND Private is TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE FOR ME AND MY KIDS WHO ALSO HAVE JOBS!.Who the hell died and made the health care insurance companies king????? Who are they ? I want to see some faces. And by the way President Obama inherited a mess that will take decades to recover from. The taxes I pay are to repair the god damn potholes I drive over every day & to pay the police to arrest the shooters that can't control themselves up the street..I want some of that money to go to doctors and nurses for when I need my next colonoscopy and mammagram! Not to pay some stupid pork project or pay for Secret Service to watch someone clear Brush for a month in Texas. Reagan invented the term Trickle down, did any Trickle down to you?

Is Everything Racism for God's Sake? October 26, 2009 at 8:50PM

The article says that death threats against the president are up 400% over Bush. I'm really, really, not surprised.
They follow it with white supremisist groups are up 35% in the LAST NINE YEARS…. Not that supremisist groups are up since Barack Obama's election, but SINCE 2000!
I'm sure that there are members of white supremisist groups that are upset of Barack Obama's presidency. Some of the death threats are racist, to be sure.
But, a great deal of anger against this president has NOTHING to do with race. Bold-faced lies and an effort to "re-make" this country into a one where we "spread the wealth around" and strive for "social justice" can drive the sane, hard-working Americans to anger. Real, red-blooded Americans WORK for a living, and aren't waiting in long lines with their hands out, waiting for some of that free "Obama-money"
Trying to tie a growth rate that preceded Obama's presidency by EIGHT YEARS to ander against HIM is horribly misleading. I think that Barack Obama is going to damage this country in ways that may take decades to recover from. I would've voted for Colin Powell. I'm not racist, just SANE.
