Jon Stewart on McCain's Anti-Net-Neutrality Bill
Try as I might, I never quite understood the net neutrality debate. All I knew was nerds cared very deeply about it, so I assumed it had something to do with Cheeto taxes or Real Doll tariffs. But on last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart broke it down into simple terms even a touched halfwit like me can understand.
In case you're wondering, yes, this exists. As does this. But not this.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

Hate to break it to ya Obama h8er but net neutrality is a good thing…its keeps the internet free from ISPs regulating what gets priority on the internet…all it is doing is the EXACT same thing the government did for radio and tv….so what is the problem? You want your shitty ISP blocking sites you like to use in favor of their own b/c they see fit?
fuck you comedy central.
next time, give me a LINK to the location where this content is hosted in CANADA.
I am tired of looking through your gay advertising and disorganized site to find ONE VIDEO on ONE political issue that I CARE about!
This is not a US-only internet.
@Bob,
You are a fool. This piece is about keeping the government's hands off the technology. Stewart never claimed to be a reporter. HELLO, COMEDY Central!
Your party is spelled R E P U B L I C A N
Go back to Fox if you want YOUR truth
CERN was mainly only responsible for creating HTML and supplying/jumpstarting the European internet by using TCP/IP created through the Arpanet program. I think it would be safe to say that Arpanet along with several other small networks/programs (often publicly funded university projects) was the genesis of the internet and CERN (through HTML) only expanded on the idea.
Bob,
Even if you were right on all counts (which you're not; for one the world likes us much better now that Bush is gone, invalidating your claim thelat the world laughs at us, as we are just now building back the favor that Bush squandered) your whole statement will be completly disregarded by me because of your blatant anti-Islamic sentiment.
There have been Islamic churches here for a longtime. And who cares? Muslims have nothing to do with anything here. Another Hatemonger trolling the internets…
The Internet was originally. Arpanet was research studies at MIT and UCLA and a host of other colleges.. Then that joined other government networks later such as Milnet and NSFnet. Cern came in much later and joined the other networks. You may be confusing CERN creating the world wide web with the internet. They did create the WWW protocols and the world first Web server.
Why do you people watch this piece of garbage?
Of course, let's make fun of Replicans again. They are the only ones trying to keep the government out of your lives!!!! But NOOOOO, let's all trust Obama's rule of power as he continues to destroy this country.
Jon Stewart is an ass. this is why Obama won and why other countries make fun of us. We are just letting the Government slowly take over. N.R.A. is now labeled terrorists, smoking banned EVERYWHERE in doors , and Islamics have their own churches here. Oh, did I forget to mention health care???? Jon Stewart, u are not a reporter. Just because you are another liberal whore doesn't make you right.
The government did not create the Internet. Many of the concepts and networks that led to the modern Internet evolved from the military Arpanet, but a lot of what we call "the Internet" came from private research institutions like CERN (which is a *European* agency) and other private researchers.
While I definitely support legally enforced net neutrality, I also agree that we should be very careful about how much actual control the US government has over the day to day running of the various networks and services that make up "the Internet".
I love how they want the government to keep its hands off the Internet. Um… the government created the Internet.
