Al Gore on The Daily Show Next Week

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

From The CC Insider

Former Vice President Al Gore will make his fourth appearance on The Daily Show next Wednesday to discuss his new book, Our Choice, which is something of a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth. If I understand things correctly, the followup picks up where the first one left off, except now climate change is played by Jason Patric, and it takes place on a boat.

Here's Gore's last appearance on the show.

2007, Part 1

Part 2 and a bunch more here.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

  1. More simplicity: Legalize marijuana and solve most of "drug war" violence/border issues….Other natrual solutions: vitamins – perscribed by Dr. or otherwise – should be covered by health insurance and Medicare! It's $9.00 for perscription vitamin D (deficiency contributes to heart disease, osteoporosis and depression) and that is way cheaper than 'Big Pharma's' drugs….Fish oil/garlice/flax, etc. helped lower my cholesterol and I avoided the Statins the Dr. wanted me to take – and no side effects; but, I have to pay out of pocket for all my supplements cause these are not "FDA approved" methods of treating illness….The taxpayers and I will pay so much more if I get diabetes than if I simply watch my diet/lose some weight….and on and on. We need to drag our gov't out o f the dark ages. Wake up!

  2. I don't know if the show has already been taped yet or not, but could somebody please ask Mr. Gore if he has ever heard of a little plant named cannabis sativa. Reportedly, he knew it (very well) as marijuana for a while yet seems completely unaware of the vast potential of industrial hemp as a replacement for trees (paper), plastics, fiberglass, food and even corn-based ethanol–which is currently responsible for destroying crop lands and clean water from the Gulf of Mexico to the Amazon, all the way to Africa and Australia.

Why does a man so concerned about carbon dioxide levels ignore the only short-term solution for saving what's left of our forests? They are the lungs which produce live-giving oxygen, while carbon sponges (hemp plants) can be turned into a myriad of useful products after just four months on marginal land without the need for fertilizers, pesticides or any other chemicals. And if his argument against all of this is that "marijuana is a dangerous drug", then I'd kindly ask him to prove it. Go ahead and ask the American College of Physicians what they think, or take a look at the data for yourself; it's safer than tylenol or cory syrup and Congress knows it–they're just afraid to admit it because the entire pharmaceutical industry scam is now on the line..

If you want to save the environment and get affordable medicine (i.e., health care reform) while rebuilding the economy with sustainable industry, simply put an end to a prohibition policy that has been failing miserably for seventy-five years. This seems like such an incredibly easy choice for a Congress as desperate as ours is to make, maybe Mr. Gore could write a book and give presentations about it as well. Twenty foot tall graphs comparing cannabis to high fructose corn syrup, that's what I'd pay money to see!

  4. Hi Jon. I voted for Al Gore (and got shit for my effort) BUT all the horrible things happeneing on this earth cannot be changed unless we get a handle on the population pollution. It's humans that are screwing up the planet. We pmp them out faster than we can care for and educate them. Sorry to put the weight on the guys, but I refer to this as the "testosterone factor". 5. So, Al, imagine for us what it would have been like to have Joe LIEberman as Vice President, much less a Republicrat doing his darnedest to keep the status quo. Yikes! Please explain now how that was ever a good choice?

  6. Al Gore on the Daily Show, huh? It's good to see that you give equal time to social conservatives. Al Gore might never cut down an oak or a pine, but as vice-president, he sure took a mighty ax to the New Deal!

America might not have won any of our serial wars since World War ll, but with the leadership of Al Gore, we did indeed get tough on the powerless. Al Gore made it cool to bash the poor. We see the wisdom of this strategy all around us today. For example, by ending welfare, look how dramatically we reduced the welfare rolls! What brilliant simplicity!
