Barack Obama's Path to the Presidency Daily Show Mashup
So, as absolutely none of the media are reporting ad nauseum today, exactly one year ago today a little more than half the fraction of American voters who felt like waiting in line at polling stations decided that they would rather hand the keys to the country over to the over-enthusiastic, inexperienced black guy than to the elderly man with the crazy-eyed lady running mate.
Ah, Democracy.
I don't know about you, but I'd never want to live through the grueling two-year election cycle that led to Obama's historic victory. Unless, maybe, it was condensed down to six and a half minutes. That, I think I could deal with…

Mashup, indeed.
Nice characterization. I'm still glad I voted for him, considering the mess Republicans left us in, but if he doesn't get it in gear, and be more like FDR and make some moves against these Hoover Cons, he'll die by a thousand cuts, with all the little inroads they're making by scaring granny into thinking the govt's coming for her medicare. Too bad they left out the part about how they're against medicare.
Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for the perspective.
Let's hope Democrats like Grayson hold the party to a higher standard, and let's hope Obama learns that he can't have his feet in two places if he wants to take a stand
Either you're with the fat cats, or you're with We, The People.
We have spoken, when we voted, for the richest 1 percent to get taxed, which you said you'd do, but haven't.
We spoke, when we voted, for "Universal Health Care." Now you come up with some BS about maybe and option…but maybe…well, the Blue Dogs have us by the nose….(psst. Blue Dogs – you will go down as Dems and have to switch to Republican, because that's who represents the insurance companies, in this scenario).
We, The People, spoke, when we voted for Obama, who ran on these main platforms.
Of course, how could he forsee, Bush's final swan song, to screw the economy so bad, all of it would go out the window, trying to fix a sinking ship. Despite a successful stimulus effort, that at least sowed the pain for us all, Republicans now want to shove that sinking ship they left us, up Democrat's hats, and blame them, for the mess Bush left us in.
Of course, any Democrat, who winked and nodded, as speculators drove up energy prices, or turned a blind eye to a rotten banking scheme, can join the lawless Bush and Cheney Wrecking Crew, in voter's eyes.
It just makes us apathetic, and not want to go to the polls at all. So then you have the fervent minority, rushing to the polls, to defeat gay marriage, or any other social Church Lady Nanny State issue these people want to get on the ballot, to tell others what to do with their body, stem cells, science education, literature, or who you can marry.
These same people, who cheered on Bush, as he obliterated our surplus, squandered our world sympathy after 9/11 by invading a country that didn't attack us, then left the kids who went after our attackers in Afghanistan. Now suddenly, they've got religion, about looting the taxpayers, or giving the kids in Afghanistan more resources? Cuz, actually, Obama was fighting for more resources, and has put more in that effort, than Bush did after he decided to to the shuck and jive in Iraq for McCai's 100 years….
At any rate, let's hope Democrats don't squander their chance, to prove they have a backbone.
Stand up, and fight. Or you will turn out to be a yawn and a sigh, when we decide if we want to get out and vote today.
