John Oliver Searches for Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly's Good Old Days
Cable news rabble-rousers like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly love to rouse their rabble by lamenting the loss of the America they grew up in, an idyllic and simpler bygone era. So, on last night's Daily Show, John Oliver went looking for these so-called good old days, and it wasn't so easy. But maybe he just didn't go back far enough. From what I understand, there was a pretty nice period of time that ended about 250,000 years ago.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c. And be sure to tune in for the series premiere of John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, Friday at 11pm / 10c.
Was that kid's name "Idi Amin"?
I just want to say to John Oliver, whose thread I so rudely interrupted with mutterings of an actual event and no name brand preference intended:
You were the first live stand-up comic I've ever seen, the only live stand-up comic I've ever seen, and probably the last, given that I don't get out much. Thank god you've got a show. You're also my favorite stand-up comic.
You're welcome.
Yes Hilo, every time i reach for a coke when i'm at the gay station i find my hand straying towards a pepsi, as if a reflection of one of those monstrous coke trucks drives past in the glass of the fridge
Hahaha, this was one of the funniest John Oliver segments ever, and I'm a huge Oliver fan. Keep up the great work Jon & John.
Yet another job that Americans don't want to do? I take it no one actually asked Samantha Bee to host John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show. Damn Misogynistic Brits.
Coke's problem is their antiquated trucks. This morning, as I was returning from dropping off my son off at school, the obstacle before me was two BIG trucks at traffic stop…I calculated which would be easier to get around. Big. Slow. Coke. Truck. OR Long sleek slow profile WATER truck… next came the first of two STOP signs…. I put my non-existent money on the silver streak water truck…yes. the coke truck was rudimentary. slow geared. teeth-menacing slow.
