Washington Times Imagines Harry Reid and Tim Kaine at a Country-Style Restaurant

POSTED BY: Mary Phillips-Sandy

Editors at hyper-conservative Moonie rag the Washington Times were so upset by Harry Reid's "Negro dialect" comment that they devoted today's op-ed page to the controversy, because no matter how embarrassing the national dialogue becomes, we can always take it one step further.

Their "editorial" is a terribly offensive exercise entitled "Harry Reid and Tim Kaine at the Cracker Barrel," and this is how it opens

I cain't believe all the fuss that's been kicked up over what I said about th' president not bein' like a reg'lar Negro.

Nope.

Lawks a mercy, I was complimentin' the man.

Of course, to be fair, this is no more offensive than the Washington Times op-ed page normally is.

  1. I would like to point out that we are no longer a nation of Moonies, Negroes, and Crackers. I find it racist that Wetbacks, Spics and Towel heads were left out of this article.

  2. I'm still confused as to how that comment made Reid racist. I thought it was more a comment on the racism of the American voter than anything else. Would Nixon have been elected sooner if he had looked more like Kennedy? Too many American voters vote for superficialities like looks, how a candidate sounds and the catch phrases he uses than what the candidate actually says and believes. I don't think I'm a racist, but I really feel that there are a lot of people out there voting that would not have voted for President Obama if his skin had been darker or if he had a more "street" dialect. Look at how many people had a problem with his name. The only person I know of that does not see color is Stephen Colbert, and I think he's lying. There, I said it. Colbert is disingenuous and doesn't mean everything he says on his show. Let the flaming begin! LOL
