Limbaugh, Robertson and Maddow Make Hay of Haiti

POSTED BY: Matt Tobey

Leaping on a major tragedy like this week's Haitian earthquake to push your own ideological agenda is the kind of thing you expect from villains like Lex Luthor or Dr. Doom or Rush Limbaugh or Pat Robertson. So, it's a little surprising and a lot disappointing to see Rachel Maddow joining their ranks. Maybe she came in contact with a symbiote.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

  1. Stewart's bizarre attack on Maddow shows how far most corporate media talking heads will go in order to pander to Republican advertisers. I've lost a lot of respect for Stewart for this.

  2. Rachel Maddow and Bill O'Reilly and their ilk are just two sides of the same coin. Don't give any of these people's views any credence.

  3. LOL,

I have a garden at home and will kill any worm that gets near my nose, :o

Listen carefully to the mouthbreathers on msnbc. It seems that they have to talk until they MUST suck down a mouthful of air.

Seems like they are afraid of no being heard, let alone being understood.

I hope to see Keith Olbermann drop deap from asphixia one night.

  4. @libhomo: If you can't see how having a liberal version of Fox News it's bad then you are as stupid as you consider Fox News viewers to be. You can't find the real answer by taking a side because you will end up with a partial point of view.

  5. I always knew that you had to be called by God to spread the word of God. But Pat Roberston along with others who claim to preach and spread the word of their god, is a fake. Pat Robertson is the demon God has warned us of. His is one of the false prophets we have been warned about. As for Rush, he sounds as though he's popping the oxy again. I wish all of you non-believers the best. Keep following the demons that crawl on their belly like a snake.

  6. I too criticized the relief effort, though not for political reasons. But now I wonder, should I have held my tongue? http://digg.com/d31FjZK

  7. I am a Christian and not afraid to admit it. I don't wear it on my sleeve or pass out tracts…but I believe!

Pat Robertson needs to be wheeled into an old folks home and get some care for his creeping senility. His remarks do not represent main stream Christianity or even "right wing" Christians. I am very conservative, and have no trouble voicing my political beliefs. However, I absolutely draw the line at Pat Robertson's Haiti comments.

Will someone please keep this poor old gentleman away from a microphone. His followers need to pass the torch and retire him

  8. There was absolutely nothing off base about Maddow's coverage of Haiti. Her commentary was very relevant and didn't take away from the gravity of the situation. I like Jon, but he's a comedian and not a hard hitting journalist like Maddow. When I saw the clip I thought Jon really needs to get off his high horse.

  9. I'm very disappointed in Jon Stewart for comparing Maddow's rational and objective remarks to the virulent hate-mongering of Limbaugh and Robertson.

She didn't say anything to denigrate the Haitian people or minimize the tragedy there. She merely reported on USAID's efforts in a positive way, and said we were doing better than we'd done before. No hate. No fear. No weird religious horror stories. No racism.

Come on, Jon. Why slander Maddow? Are you getting pushed to provide some phony "balance"?

  10. takes alot of 40-80 I.Q.'s to make up for all the 210 I.Q.'s out there. Only 80% of them are Republicans the rest are mixed between Independents and Liberatarians. But all are religious. Robertson proves it every day. Oh yes and the KKK followers got religion too. They just like Rush better. Just the catchy name that sounds like doing drugs I guess. We love hate, We hate love.
