Lincoln Memorable

Since Glenn Beck's 8/28 Rally was such a huge success, does that mean he's now a greater man than Martin Luther King. Or just as great?

Jon Stewart's Extended Interview with Marc Thiessen

On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart interviewed Marc Thiessen, an author, former spokesman for Jesse Helms and former speechwriter for President George W. Bush. Now, say what you will about his arguments (they're disingenuous, fallible, unpatriotic, etc.), but you have to admit that Thiessen looks every bit as good now as he did when he played Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell. Anyway, the interview went, long, but as promised on the show, the full unedited segment is here online.

Parts two and three of the interview can be found below.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

  1. Wow Jon nailed him! and by "nailed him" i mean "couldn't think of anything intelligent to say and therefore filibustered him for the entire on air interview."

    Great job!

  2. thats why Thiessen wrote a book, so nobody would interupt him while he was venting his biest views.

  3. Marc Thiessen seemed to take pleasure in your apologies Jon, he came across as a complete jerk. If he had been more respectful himself then maybe he would be taken more seriously. He approached your program on the defensive showing his weaknesses quickly.

  4. Both gentlemen interrupted each other often, as is the nature of such an emotional debate. However, Jon was respectful not only of his audience (this is still a Comedy Central show after all, despite its admittedly hefty political influence) but also, for the most part, of his guest. Thiessen, however came across as impolite, somewhat petulant and unapologetic for any interrupting of his host. More importantly, he seemed to lose sight of the fact that the discussion was only ever intended to be the last ten minutes of a thirty minute (dare I say it again) *comedic* broadcast. He did have some excellent arguments for his side, and he had certainly done his research and thought out his opinions – which is why I searched for the full interview on the web – but a more respectful approach and perhaps better understanding of the show on which he was invited to speak, would be very much appreciated.

  5. Great job on the Thiessen "interview" Jon. Thank you so much for the light you shine on these conservative ding bats.

The comments from this man are dumbfounding, delusional, simplistic and simply wrong. I don't know how you kept your composure as well as you did.

Interesting how Thiessen constantly interrupted Jon and then claimed at the end that he was not allowed to make his point!? The reality of it was that Jon would not agree with Thiessen's points. That was the problem Thiessen had.

I can see that Thiessen is a man you agree with or he will become indignantly outraged. Eff him and the conservative horse he rode in on.

They offer nothing positive to America.
