I'm starting to feel sorry for the grass-roots conservatives. They keep getting saddled with embarrassing names. First they were Teabaggers, now they're Guy Fawkers. Everyone's so busy laughing at the ridiculous monikers, they're not taking the time to actually listen to what the protesters have to say and laugh at that.

When I heard Glenn Beck had appendicitis, I thought there were only a few reasonable culprits. A vengeful God certainly came to mind. It could have also been the last dying act of the tattered remnants of Beck's conscience. But what if it's bigger than that? What if it's bigger than all of us? Fortunately, Jon Stewart was willing to ask the tough questions last night.

In light of Tuesday's elections, one thing is abundantly clear: If you want your boring local election to gain unwarranted national weight and prominence, hold it in an off year. Better yet, don't even hold it in November. Move your deputy county comptroller election to April 2011, and watch it become a bellwether referendum on the future of all carbon-based species.
After the jump, coverage of the election results continues with The Daily Show.

Al Gore was all over the TV last night. The dude was just impossible to avoid. He sat down with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, he debated the economic effects of climate change with Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report, and, perhaps most notably, he could be seen on Fox's broadcast of The World Series, cheering on the Yankees in his startlingly effective Kate Hudson costume. Here's the extended version of Gore's Daily Show appearance.
The interview continues below, followed by Gore's appearance on The Colbert Report.

As you've now heard, in last night's two high-profile gubernatorial elections, the GOP candidates emerged victoriously in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Meanwhile, in the closely-watched Congressional race in New York's 23rd District, voters elected a Democrat for the first time in over a century in what was a clear referendum against President Obama. Where did I acquire such keen political insight? Cable news, of course.

Last night, blogger and beard aficionado Andrew Sullivan made his fourth appearance on The Colbert Report to make the case that President Obama has accomplished quite a lot in his first year in office. I guess he makes some valid points, but for all we know, he's also part of the Communist Nazi Jihadist conspiracy. I heard he doesn't even have a legal American birth certificate.
