• Jimmy Carter Thinks Obama/Clinton Ticket Would Be Wrong

Although former peanut farmer Jimmy Carter endorsed Barack Obama for president yesterday, he's not so keen on the idea of supposed dream ticket…

"I think it would be the worst mistake that could be made," said Carter. "That would just accumulate the negative aspects of both candidates"…

In terms that might discomfort the Obama camp, he said: "If you take that 50% who just don't want to vote for Clinton and add it to whatever element there might be who don't think Obama is white enough or old enough or experienced enough or because he's got a middle name that sounds Arab, you could have the worst of both worlds."

Well, I think we've got to put this in perspective. Jimmy Carter's a nice guy, but he is an old southern dude. And old southern dudes are very rarely in favor of seeing a black guy on top of a white woman.

I think he'd feel better about a John McCain/Condoleezza Rice ticket. That's much more common where he's from.
