Political Chicks a Go Go: A Rock the Vote/Lifetime Jammy Jam

Last night, Michael and I attended our first RNC party. Oh, wait! Not party. I mean hurricane relief fundraiser. And, let me tell you, it was a pretty wild hurricane relief fundraiser.

It was co-hosted Rock the Vote and the Lifetime Channel, with the joint purposes of raising money for the victims of Hurricane Gustav and highlighting the contributions that women have made to the political arena.

So, of course, there were big-breasted women in hot pants dancing around poles. (Because that kind of is what they've contributed to Republican politics.)

She's very concerned about emboldening foreign dictators by tacitly acknowledging their equality while speaking to them through means of diplomacy and negotiations.

And these ladies are all about putting money back into the hands of consumers to help stimulate an ownership society.

Country singer John Rich took the stage and played his kickass song, "Raisin' McCain," which was both kickass and ass-kicking good.

And, of course, he had his midget.

Carter Chord — a band made up of three sisters (and a whole bunch of session players) followed, and I was really surprised by how much I didn't not like them. In fact, I didn't not like them a whole lot. I really didn't not enjoy myself during their set.

Admittedly, the keyboardist sister was in no small way responsible for that.

Now here's a person I'd unilaterally invade a foreign country for, if you know what I'm saying. I'm talking no exit strategy at all.

After Megan McCain was set to come onstage with her Blogettes to do whatever Megan McCain and Blogettes do. But that's right when we were invited by one of the go-go dancers to enter the VIP room.

This is the VIP room. I'm not certain, but I think the name of that room might have been a bit misleading.

This is Alexis. She's a Minneapolis native, radio personality and PR guru on a women's station, which apparently exists here in Minneapolis. Which is pretty cool. Alexis was pretty cool. We liked Alexis.

We also really liked Scott a genuine Young Republican who loves Comedy Central and hates having his picture taken. When I asked him if he was a fan of The Daily Show, he deadpanned, "No. I don't like that."

I have a feeling that these women might have been VIPs, because people kept taking their pictures with them. But I have no idea who they are. Still, I'm honored to have kind of shared a room with them.
