According to reporters traveling with John McCain, it's been over a month since they've gotten a chance to speak to the candidate himself — yet they spend their days crisscrossing the country aboard his Straight Talk Air, sitting a few tantalizing rows behind the subject of their stories, separated only by a thin curtain of silence (and an actual curtain).
A revolt was bound to break out…
[W]hen Straight Talk Air departed Tampa today, a dozen reporters chanted, "Bring Mac back! Bring Mac back!" (Some reporters expressed concern that chanting at takeoff could be against FAA regulations. Others joked that they could be taken away by the Secret Service agents on board.)
Have you heard the one about being taken away by John McCain's Secret Service agents? The punch line is "Guantanamo." Anyway, McCain staffers responded quickly to the reporters' demands…
The chanting lasted under a minute as staffers in the business cabin smiled and then promptly closed the curtain between business and coach.
Oh well. I'm sure it was a very straight-talking smile.
