• Are Obama and McCain Ready For Some Football?

Now we're getting down to it. The stuff you think about when it's just you, alone, behind the curtain, pulling the lever.

    What.

Oh, in the voting booth. I'm talking about when you're in the voting booth.

According to an Associated Press-Yahoo! News poll, people would rather watch football with Barack Obama than with John McCain, by a narrow 50 percent to 47 percent.

Since the no-longer-indulging Bush won the last election because more people wanted to have a beer with him than with John Kerry, I don't think we should underestimate the significance of this poll. But, more importantly, now you're not just imagining yourself clinking a frosty mug in a public place with a presidential candidate, but having him over to your man cave for chips and salsa with the rest of your rowdy friends on a Monday night.

Look for future polls to ask who you'd rather watch cleaning his toilet, who you'd rather brew up some meth with, and who you'd rather see fucking your wife.

(Please, as a favor to me, pick Obama for that last one.)
