After Victory, Connecticut Democrats Plan to Rub it in Joe Lieberman's Face
The Connecticut Democratic Party has big plans for November…1. Take back the White House by electing Barack Obama as President.
2. Boost their majorities in both the House and Senate, reaching a filibuster-proof margin in the latter body.
3. Kick Joe Lieberman in the jowls…
Connecticut Democrats are considering whether to ask Sen. Joe Lieberman to leave the party for speaking at the Republicans' convention and backing GOP presidential nominee John McCain…
The resolution says Lieberman's actions exhibited "extraordinary disloyalty to countless Connecticut Democrats without whom his career as an elected official would never have been possible."
It calls on the party to "publicly censure and repudiate" Lieberman's words and actions and ask him to resign.
The proposed censure would not take place until after the election, because Democrats currently need Lieberman to maintain their narrow 51-49 Senate majority.
Still, it's not easy being Joe these days, because Connecticut Democrats are hardly the only group that can't stand him.
His fellow Senators can't stand him for his obsession with attacking Iran.
The Republican base can't stand him such that they forbid John McCain from nominating him for VP.
Reform Jews can't stand him for pandering to rapture-obsessed evangelicals.
Wallace Shawn can't stand him for continually pimping his style.
Silver lining for Lieberman: If he manages to alienate just a few more segments of the population, he officially becomes presidential material.
