• McCain Pulling Out of Michigan

For a time, there was a widely held belief that of the states won by John Kerry in 2004, there was a strong chance Michigan and New Hampshire might flip to John McCain. But a full month before election day, Politico reports McCain is pulling his campaign from at least one of the two:

John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.

McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida.   Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.

McCain's campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

I think this is a great move for McCain. If there's one thing we've learned from this election season, it's that there's no better plan than pulling resources and focusing on Florida.

In other news, you should congratulate me for being classy enough to not make a joke about John McCain being the only man in Sarah Palin's life who knows how to pull out before it's too late.
