• Pro-American Congresswoman from Minnesota Dropped Like Anti-American

Remember just 5 days (or 6000 news cycles) ago when that nice Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (R-real America) was charmed by liberal snake-hustler Chris Matthews into saying that the media should investigate those "anti-Americans in Congress"?

Turns out, the GOP is less excited than REM at exhuming Joe McCarthy, and is pulling support from her reelection campaign faster than you can say "Macaca."

After promising ad buys for Bachmann, "National Republican Congressional Committee has pulled out of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's district, a well-placed GOP source tells [the Politico]."

Bachmann's reelection bid was supposed to go easily. She is an incumbent in a relatively safe GOP district where she outdid the Dems by 8 percentage points in 2006, and her current Democratic opponent goes by the name of Elwyn Tinklenberg, which is a) the shittiest name in Minnesota, but b) should help Elwyn capture the gnome-American vote.

Does that mean that you can't win an election anymore just by spouting insane bullshit? Or is it that gnomish voter registration efforts in Minnesota and endorsements by the Keelber Elves have finally paid off?
