• George W. Bush Buys Sad Little Hovel in Dallas

Ah, how the mighty have fallen.

In January, after eight years at the most prestigious address in the country, soon-to-be former president George W. Bush and his lovely wife L-bot will trundle off to a Texas frontier town called "Preston Hollow," adjacent to the Dallas trading post.

Their new home leaves much to be desired…

A real-estate blog published on the Internet by D Magazine reported Wednesday that Robert McCleskey of Midland, the Bushes' long-time accountant, purchased an 8,501-square-foot home valued at nearly $2.1 million at 10141 Daria Place in Preston Hollow on Oct. 1 while serving as a trustee.

The one-story home, red brick with floor-to-ceiling windows in the front, was built in 1959 on 1.13 acres. It has four bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, a fireplace and a wet bar. The house layout includes 896 square feet of space that could serve as a servant's quarters.

One story. And no swimming pool.

Take comfort, foreclosed-upon Americans. George W. Bush feels your pain.
