There's Only One Explanation for Michael Steele's (Pro?) Choice of Words
Republicanism 101: If someone asks you a question that includes the words "right" and "to" and "choose," your answer must include the phrase "pro-life." Even if the question is "Would you like to choose one of the tasty sandwich toppings from the menu on your right," don't hesitate. Just say "pro-life."Apparently RNC chairman Michael Steele missed this memo, as a recent interview with GQ reveals…
GQ: Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion?
Steele: Yeah. I mean, again, I think that’s an individual choice.GQ: You do?
Steele: Yeah. Absolutely.Okay. That's it. You can't fool me, Steele. I see what's going on here. This is just part of your ongoing campaign to embarrass yourself so you can be deposed from the RNC chairmanship and go back to… doing whatever it was you were doing.
Call me intuitive, but I'm starting to think Michael Steele secretly doesn't want to be responsible for repairing the GOP's tattered image after eight years of George W. Bush and however-long-it-was of Sarah Palin and god-knows-how-long-it-will-be of Joe the Plumber.
Though I can't imagine why not.
