• Health Care Hero Jim DeMint Has a New Catchphrase

jim-demint-handsYou remember Jim "Waterloo" DeMint, Republican Senator from South Carolina, right? According to Jim DeMint, Jim DeMint is singlehandedly stopping Barack Obama from coming to your house to steal your prescription drugs. And unlike Barack Obama, who has mind-controlled the entire government, Jim DeMint is fighting the health care battle with nothing but his wits and a thesaurus

"I'm swinging on this issue," DeMint said in an interview. "If I can stop a government takeover, I will. . . . It's not personal. It's not political. It's about stopping a bad policy."

Sure, because one man, a person, if you will, "swinging" at a "political issue" is about as far from "personal" and/or "political" as you can get. But perhaps Jim DeMint has another trick up his rhetorical sleeve…

"We need some real health-care reform," he added. "So, Mr. President, get your hands off of my health care and let's make health insurance work better."

Ooh, ooh, good one! "Get your hands off [of] my health care," that's the kind of slogan that's fun to chant and easy to spell on cardboard signs. I wonder, though, if we might be able to make it a bit… scarier. More threatening-sounding, to rally the troops (Real Americans). What's more terrifying than having someone's hands in your business? Having government laws in your business, of course. And health care, that's intimate business involving your actual body. So, let's see here…

    …ah yes. I think I've got it.
