• Important 3 A.M. Questions: Did Barack Obama Sleep through the Polish Plane Crash?

Erick Erickson, CNN's new "magic wall," asks a very important question re: the tragic plane crash that killed Poland's president and top government officials: did Barack Obama sleep through the whole thing?

Here's what we know. The plane crashed at 0656 GMT, or 2:56 a.m. DC time. So assuming the Russians have us on speed dial, the White House phone actually rang at 3:00 a.m., just as Hillary predicted, and- well, let's go to the magic wall

CNN has updated their story repeated [sic]. When I looked at it at 9:46 a.m. ET on Saturday morning, something very odd stood out.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown had released a statement. French President Nicholas Sarkozy had released a statement. An American Undersecretary of State for Public Affairs had released a statement.

Sometime after that the White House released its statement (note: I'm told in an email the statement was actually released earlier, but still after sunrise). [...] Why the delay? Did the President sleep through the 3 a.m. phone call? If you think it is unfair to ask, just imagine if it were George W. Bush.

Excellent point! If it were George W. Bush he would've used his superpowers to rearrange the time-space continuum and give himself the same advantage as the British prime minister and the French president, namely, being five hours ahead of the United States.

    God, I miss that guy.
