• Stephen Colbert Testifies Before Congress

This morning, Stephen Colbert testified before the Congressional Subcommittee for Immigration and Agriculture, and he did it in character. Like a boss! And now, finally, we have an answer to the question that's been plaguing Colbert fans for years. Namely, Why does Stephen record his show before an audience of friendly comedy fans and not a group of half-asleep humorless political geeks?

The answer is somewhat complicated, but it essentially boils down to: This guy

Keep an eye on him during this video of Colbert's testimony, and you'll see what I mean…

The full text of Colbert's testimony is here and all the very very boring stuff that surround Colbert's testimony is here.

The Colbert Report airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30pm / 10:30c.

Update: Apparently, the "this guy" guy referred to above is Colbert Report writer Opus Moreschi. My sincerest apologies to anybody who may have suffered emotional damage due to my grievous error.
