• Lou Dobbs Opposes Undocumented Workers That Do Not Work for Lou Dobbs

Okay, look, everybody knows that Lou Dobbs — who, it is widely believed, fancies himself a Republican presidential candidate in 2012 — has a special place in his black heart for illegal immigrants. And that place is an exploding rocketship to the moon. But did you also know that he equally — or, even extra-equally — dislikes people who hire illegal immigrants?

Dobbs reserved a special venom for the employers who hire them, railing against "the employer who is so shamelessly exploiting the illegal alien and so shamelessly flouting US law" and even proposing, on one April 2006 show, that "illegal employers who hire illegal aliens" should face felony charges… Dobbs has continued to advocate an enforcement-first approach to immigration, emphasizing, as he did in a March 2010 interview on Univision, that "the illegal employer is the central issue in this entire mess!"

You'll never guess what the next paragraph I'm gonna quote from this Nation article is gonna say. Nope! Never in a million years. I'll bet you 500 million exploding rocketships that this next paragraph will take you completely by surprise…

Based on a yearlong investigation, including interviews with five immigrants who worked without papers on his properties, The Nation and the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute have found that Dobbs has relied for years on undocumented labor for the upkeep of his multimillion-dollar estates and the horses he keeps for his 22-year-old daughter, Hillary, a champion show jumper.

Boom! Did your head just explode with amazement? Don't feel bad. There's no way that anybody could have guessed that Lou Dobbs might not be the paragon of integrity of which he portrays himself. The clues simply were not there!
