Less People Want to Be Associated with Democratic Party Now for Some Weird Reason
My God! I don't know if you're going to believe this, but in the past two years, there's been a drop in people who say they're comfortable identifying themselves as members of the Democratic Party! Can anybody even begin to imagine how something like that would happen?
According to Gallup…
In 2010, 31% of Americans identified as Democrats, down five percentage points from just two years ago and tied for the lowest annual average Gallup has measured in the last 22 years. While Democrats still outnumber Republicans by two points, the percentage identifying as independents increased to 38%, on the high end of what Gallup has measured in the last two decades.
Wow! Independents outnumber Democrats by 7 percent and Republicans by nine! Finally this is the time for a third party candidate to swoop in, collect enough votes in 2012 to unseat the sitting hierarchy and bring about far-reaching substantive change that can actually pull our country out of its flaming tailspin directly into the hungry maw of corporate oligarchy.
Ha ha, just kidding. It just means that Democrats and Republicans will both have to spend more money smearing each other to convince the now greater number of not-locked-away votes.
