The world of humans suffered a horrific defeat last month when IBM supercomputer Watson beat the hell out of quiz show champion Ken Jennings on Jeopardy! But fear not: one of New Jersey's own elected officials took back the smartypants crown humanity this week. Surprisingly, the valiant politician was not noted supergenius Governor Chris Christie.
It was former nuclear physicist and five-day Jeopardy! champion U.S. Rep. Rush Holt…
Holt — who was a five-time Jeopardy! winner more than 30 years ago and joked midday that Watson was "just a little Atari" when he made his game-show splash — tweeted almost an hour ago about the experience: "I played a full round against @IBMWatson tonight and was proud to hold my own: the final tally was Holt $8,600, Watson $6,200."
Congrats to Rep. Holt for making that giant-ass computer his brain bitch. Somewhere, Chris Christie paused in the midst of hating public school to tears to shed one single, glistening tear.
