You liberal hippies and your so called "green" energy. First of all, it's been a few years since Obama's promise to provide it for us, and I haven't seen so much as a solitary verdant photon emerging from my wall outlet.*
And now we have this Solyndra scandal brewing. It got a $535 million loan from the federal government to create a bunch of jobs while helping to ween the country off its dependency on fossil fuels, but now it's bankrupt.
Once hailed by the Obama administration a key example of its commitment to green tech driving growth and creating jobs, solar company Solyndra has since lost a good deal of its shine. It’s now bankrupt and the target of a federal criminal investigation…
According to the Wall Street Journal, the FBI’s criminal investigation focuses on "whether Solyndra executives knowingly misled the government to secure more than $500 million in loan guarantees." (A Solyndra spokesman said the company is "fully cooperating" with the investigation.)
Meanwhile, House Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee released findings yesterday from a seven-month investigation into the government’s role in approving the loan. The memo, titled "The Solyndra Story," blames the Department of Energy and the White House Office of Management and Budget for ignoring red flags "in their rush to spend stimulus dollars."
Well, there you have it. It's like a checklist of everything that's wrong with America: environmentalism, stimulus spending and Barack Obama. I don't need to hear anything else.
Let's get back to drilling for oil inside endangered species the way we did when America was still a country to be proud of.
* I thought I saw something slightly chartreuse fall out of the socket and onto my floor once, but it turned out to be a bug. And then my dog ate it. I think that's a metaphor for something.
