Whut? Am I reading this incorrectly, or has Newt Gingrich unintentionally book-promoted his way into becoming a potential GOP frontrunner?
Three weeks ago, Rasmussen's poll of likely voters showed Speaker Newt Gingrich trailing President Barack Obama by a whopping 27 percentage points (51 to 24 percent) among independent voters. Now, Rasmussen shows, Obama’s lead over Gingrich has shrunk to just 6 points (41 to 35 percent) among independents. Obama also leads Gingrich by 6 points (44 to 38 percent) among all likely voters.
According to Rasmussen's last national poll, Gingrich is still running a pretty distant third in the GOP race with 14 percent — behind Romney with 23 and Cain with 26 — so dreams of a possible Obama-Gingrich debate/bloodletting are a ways off. But still third! Wow!
And, of course, that poll was taken way back when only a handful of women were alleging that Cain harassed them. Now that it's a full a flock or mob — or whatever you call a collection of women accusing you of sexual harassment — Cain's supporters might start to dribble down the pack. And I doubt many of them are going to land on Romney, so that could mean some fantastic news for Gingrich!
Do you have any idea how many books actual general election presidential candidates sell?
