• Michele Bachmann's Iowa Campaign Chairman Endorses Ron Paul

Generally speaking, you can usually count on your state campaign chairperson to lend you his or her endorsement for your candidacy. It's looked upon as somewhat of a courtesy. A tradition, if you will.

However, the mavericky Bachmann camp stands by no such traditions, apparently, as became clear yesterday when Kent Sorenson –¬†who heads up Bachmann's campaign in Iowa — suddenly and surprisingly¬†announced his support for Ron Paul

"I believe we're at a turning point in this campaign," Sorenson said during his surprise announcement Wednesday night at a Paul rally in Des Moines. "I thought it was my duty to come to his aid, just like he came to my aid during my Senate race, which was a very nasty race."…

Sorenson told The Register he had been thinking about supporting the Texas congressman for a couple of days but that he didn't make the decision to switch campaigns until Wednesday evening. Sorenson said he drove to Paul's 7 p.m. event, called a Paul staffer and asked: "Do you guys want me on board?"…

Sorenson has been with the Bachmann campaign for months, traveling by her side throughout Iowa and acting as a surrogate at campaign events and in the press.

This could be a huge turning point for Ron Paul. If Sorenson cannot somehow bring that Michele Bachmann magic to Paul's campaign, there's no telling how far he can go.
