• Rick Santorum Condemns "All Racism" and Welfare Spending on "Black People"

Speaking before a diverse crowd of different kinds of white people during a campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa, Rick Santorum waxed Nixonian on the importance of individual effort, fiscal restraint, and the problem of too many black people receiving public benefits in 91.3% white Iowa

Answering a question about foreign influence on the U.S. economy, the former Pennsylvania senator went on to discuss the American entitlement system – which he argued is being used to politically exploit its beneficiaries.

"It just keeps expanding — I was in Indianola a few months ago and I was talking to someone who works in the department of public welfare here, and she told me that the state of Iowa is going to get fined if they don't sign up more people under the Medicaid program," Santorum said. "They're just pushing harder and harder to get more and more of you dependent upon them so they can get your vote. That's what the bottom line is."

He added: "I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money."

"Right," responded one audience member, as another woman can be seen nodding.

I tend to to be indulgent of Santorum's outbursts. It's not so much that he's racist — he even went on Hannity to condemn "all racism" and explain that "I haven’t heard" the comment that came out of his own mouth. It's that he suffers from an especially severe case of Right Wing Tourette's Syndrome. He was going to actually answer the question about foreign influence on the American economy, but his brain is going "BLACK PEOPLE, PENISBUTTSEX, CENTRAL AMERICAN ISLAMO-SOCIALISM!" and he has to pick the phonic tic most appropriate to the situation.

Alternatively, maybe Santorum was talking about The Blacks of Iowa, a typical farm family that receives significantly more in federal spending than it send to Washington in tax payments. As a whole Iowa, takes in 10%  more in federal outlays than it delivers in revenues, compared to the approximately 60 cents on the dollar expended on New Jersey. It's about time someone spoke up about this agriculture subsidy welfare queens.
