Rick Perry: Urinating on Corpses Is Just Something Teenagers Do
Yesterday, in news that is very real and not made-up, this happened…Rick Perry…said Sunday morning that the Obama administration has gone "over the top" in criticizing Marines who were videotaped urinating on Afghan corpses.
"Obviously, 18, 19-year-olds make stupid mistakes all too often," Perry said in an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union." "… What's really disturbing to me is just, kind of, the over-the-top-rhetoric from this administration and their disdain for the military."
I'm with Perry — kids screw up sometimes. Show me a teenager who hasn't thrown a drinking party when his parents were out of town, skipped class to see a rock concert or defied international law by desecrating the lifeless bodies of enemy soldiers in a time of war.
It's just a phase!
And Perry had a right to be mad. In addition to General James Amos ordering a criminal investigation into the act, Hillary Clinton called the event "utterly inconsistent with American values."
These people just don't understand. 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds — they can make mistakes and be forgiven. Unless they make them in Texas.
