• White House Staff Too Busy Fighting For Tax Equality to Pay Taxes

White HouseAs national outrage over income inequality grows, tax fairness has become one of the major themes of President Obama's reelection campaign. In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Obama called on wealthy Americans to step up and pay their fair share.

But apparently, it's not just corporate tycoons who areĀ ignoring their civic duties

A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama's executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven't paid any share, let alone their fair share…

The tax offenders include employees of the U.S. Senate who help write the laws imposed on everyone else. They owe $2.1 million. Workers in the House of Representatives owe $8.5 million, Department of Education employees owe $4.3 million and over at Homeland Security, 4,697 workers owe about $37 million. Active duty military members owe more than $100 million.

Promoting tax fairness and income equality is hard work. I mean, who has time to actually sit down and place a five-minute phone call to an accountant? You can't ask these brilliant White House staffers to run the country and their own finances at the same time. They can't even run one war at a time.

And anyway, all that extra tax money they're keeping is really going back to the American people. Well, indirectly. Everyone knows you can't properly draft progressive tax reform legislation without first enjoying several hundred lobster dinners and chocolate truffles flaked with 99% gold. White House aides truly are the 99%.
