Jeb Bush Endorses Not-Rick Santorum for President

After several months and 34 primary contests, it is starting to seem as though the members of the Republican Party are starting accept that the insufficiently-staunch ideologue is going to be the eventual nominee instead of the disgraced self-obsessed former House speaker, the cranky old libertarian or the terrifyingly sincere religious zealot.

I don't know if it's this particular endorsement so much as the weight of all the endorsements from all the respected party members, that makes it pretty much a fait accompli (anti-American for "done deal")…

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed Mitt Romney after Romney's lopsided win in Illinois Tuesday night. The former Florida Governor — a Republican heavyweight — called on members of the party to coalesce behind Romney.

"Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season," said Bush in a statement. "Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall. I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination."

Pretty good endorsement to get. I hear this guy has a way of handing elections to people.
