Yesterday, RNC Chair—and IKEA chair—Reince Priebus denied that the GOP was waging a war on women. He claims it's just an invention of the media, like global warming, evolution and poor people.
But that's not how all Republicans see it…
The men in the Republican Party may not think they're fighting a "war on women," but its female senators certainly do. Yesterday, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) joined Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Kay Bailey Hutchison in criticizing the GOP's push for legislation to restrict access to contraception and other basic health care services:
"It makes no sense to make this attack on women," she said at a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon. "If you don't feel this is an attack, you need to go home and talk to your wife and your daughters."
Upon realizing that their loved ones back at home might actually be female, congressional Republicans emitted a collective gasp of horror and vowed never to oppress women again. Just kidding! They're still trying to ban funding for birth control, education and almost every other thing women care about.
Fortunately for us gals, Republicans aren't very good at winning wars.
